Board Meeting Pointers
Board meetings are a time for the Board of Education to conduct Provo City School District business. While the meetings are designed for the Board to make decisions on policy for the District, they are open to all citizens, with a portion of the meeting reserved for public comment. Prior to the meeting you may contact board members directly to give personal input, or you may contact the Superintendent. In order to speak at a board meeting, prior arrangements are not necessary.
Important points to remember when addressing the School Board:
- Organize your thoughts
- Begin by stating your name and address
- Be courteous in your language
- Presentation should be brief and to the point
- Be prepared to answer questions from the Board
- Public demonstrations (clapping, cheering, booing) are discouraged
In responding to citizen comments, the Board may elect one of the following options:
- Refer the matter to staff
- Place an item on a future Board meeting agenda
- Discuss the matter as time permits
If you would like an agenda in advance of Board meetings, contact Sharon at sharonr@provo.edu. You may also download a current agenda on this page by clicking "Download Board Meeting Agenda" in the right column under "Related Links".
